Carnotaurus sastrei
Our 1/10 scale model of the strange and mean looking "meat bull" is finished and being molded! it was built using the monographs by Bonaparte, Novas and Coria of the holotype found in Patagonia. It gained some fame in the mini-series Terra Nova as it was the main big and mean critter there.
It is amazing the differences between this specimen and other theropods. The vertebra are very unique "winged" when compared with most theropods. And the arms/hands are downright creepy. And with the deep and narrow skull with horns over the eyes and this one is really something!
The model was done in 1/10 scale and is a bit larger than our 1/12 Allosaurus. The real specimen they found from the skull to a dozen vertebra in back of the hip, and from top of hip to the knees. So the end of the tail and feet are actually conjecture with this skeleton.
